  1. In what ways would I be able to “customize” my new home?

    Depending upon the type of home you are looking to purchase, there are many options available to you.  If you are buying a home in one of our communities, options such as flooring, exterior colors and façade, cabinetry, and more are yours to choose.  If you decide to build a custom home with us, the sky is the limit!  You may wish to bring a set of drawings to us, or we can help you select the perfect design, and we will build your home to your specification. 
  1. I’ve heard that Signature Homes, LLC, uses some of the latest in building material technology.  What are some of these?

    Starting from the ground up, we use one of the most advanced foundation systems available.  The IntegraSpec ICF (Insulated Concrete Foundation) is an expanded polystyrene product that adds energy efficiency to your home.  The poured concrete foundation wall adds strength and durability. 

    We also use either TJI floor trusses or open-web floor trusses to improve the strength of your home and to provide sturdy, squeak-free floors. 

    You can count on added energy efficiency with the full spray-foam insulation treatment your home will receive.  Additionally, spray foam insulation improves the air quality of your home by providing a tighter seal than traditional methods. 

    Some of the optional features in some of our communities include a tank-less water heater, which improves the energy efficiency of your home.

  2. What differences can I expect between a custom home and a home purchased in one of your communities?

    If you decide to build a custom home with us, your home will be built on your private property and completely to your specification.  Make it the home of your dreams!  If, however, you feel that a home in one of our communities is more to your liking, you will have a range of models to select, and a range of options to complement your home.

  3. Why western Maryland?

    Western Maryland, or the Mountainside of Maryland, is one of the top 10 fastest growing regions in the United States.  A convenient 2 hour drive from 3 major metropolitan areas (Pittsburgh, PA, Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC), you can still enjoy the comfort and leisurely manner of rural life.  The area is home to several annual festivals, including Canal Fest and Heritage Days, in Cumberland and the Autumn Glory Festival, in Oakland, MD.  Western Maryland is situated within the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, and for the outdoors lover, it offers a large variety of opportunities from hiking and biking, fishing and hunting, to autumn colors viewing and scenic back-country car trips.  Western Maryland is also one of the most affordable regions in the country.  With so many metropolitan areas so near by, the area grants you the best of both worlds- access to the amenities of a big city, with the affordable lifestyle of small town life.

  4. What can I expect in terms of the actual process of construction of my new home?

    If you are buying a home in one of our communities, you will first meet with a member of our sales and marketing staff, who will help guide you through the process of selecting an available lot and a model which is appropriate to that lot.  After you have completed this step, the sales person will assist you in every step of the sales process so you can quickly and efficiently “stake your claim”.  Once the contract is in place, you will need to make your selections of the optional aspects of your new home.  The options selection process is important to help you customize your dream. 

    Once you’ve made your selections, and depending upon the schedule of construction, we will begin constructing your home to the specification you determined when making your options selections.  Construction on your new home will start as soon as construction schedules and weather allow.  Once the home is completed, you will be helped through the closing process with our sales and marketing staff, and your new home will be ready for you to enjoy!
